It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s the holiday season again which means family, holiday gatherings and gift exchanges. Technology gifts are always a favorite and with new technology comes the need for more bandwidth to enjoy these devices. Bandwidth usage by each subscriber over the past decade has steadily increased and the demand is only growing greater. Per OpenVault, bandwidth consumption per subscriber is anticipated to be 330GB during the current holiday season. To put that in perspective, that is a 19% increase from last year at the same time. Back in 2012, subscriber consumption was 38GB, almost 10 times less. The access to available bandwidth and increase in devices in the home have created this boom in consumption.

The week after Christmas is always a busy time of the year around here. People have new technology and want to use it. Last year there was a 5.3% increase in connected devices from the week before Christmas to the week after. This trend is certain to continue and ISPN is happy to provide the resources to help the subscriber setup and connect all their new technology toys.

Happy Holidays!
